The Montmorency Fall is about 10 minutes driving north of Quebec city, or about 3 hours northeast of Montreal Canada. While the falls boast a height of 83 meters tall, it truly does not measure against the majesty of the Niagara Falls, or definitely, the Iguazu Falls in Argentina. I would say that 2-3 hours is enough to enjoy this falls. Visiting the park near sunset hours might be more worthwhile when the entire cove of the park is illuminated after dark.
The easiest way to view the falls is to enter Parc de la Chute-Montmorency, where you can jump on a ride in a cable lift from the top of hill. The entrance fee (parking) fee is about $9 CA dollars per car. They do accept Visa and Mastercard.

For the adventurous souls, you can most certainly climb the staircase to get to the top of the waterfalls. And don't worry, you can always take the cable lift on the way down.

At the base of the stairway, there is a platform where As you climb up the stairs, there are intermediate stopping points where you can enjoy the view from lookout towers.
Once up at the top, whether you took the easy or hard way up, you can enjoy a leisure stroll across the falls on a suspension bridge. There is also a restaurant awaiting your arrival at the top. I would image that one can enter view the waterfalls just by going straight to the restaurant by car first, but I do not know how since I entered through the park instead.
